Yes, absolutely! Most of the midwives who enter into this mentorship have not completed the steps they need to take towards endorsement yet. Many midwives are still completing the 5000 hour requirement, some are in the process of enrolling or completing the pharmacology for midwives course. This mentorship is the perfect accompaniment at any stage in your midwifery journey towards being a privately practicing midwife. 

Midwives all the way from being newly graduated through to those who have already been in private practice for year already have chosen to join this mentorship over the years and all have benefited in different ways.

Yes, there sure is, every year about half the midwives who join choose to use the payment plan. 

The payment plan breaks the payment up into 4 equal instalments. The first instalment is paid once you enrol, then one payment every month with the final ending in late Janurary. 4 payments over 4 months. You'll see the payment plan option in the enrolment section. 

Yes of course you can! Every year there have been a number of midwives who are already working in private practice that have joined. 

They wanted to make sure that everything they had set up in their business had been done properly and legally and in line with the legislative requirements. 

Some private midwives joined because they didn't have a community of like minded private midwives that they could easily access to get help when they needed it. 

This mentorship can set midwives up in a private practice but also assist those who are already in private practice to refine their business structure and navigate the challenges of private practice with the support of Melanie and the other midwives in the mentorship. 

This mentorship is an opportunity to build a tribe and have a constant source of support. 

If you are already a private midwife and you feel that you need more support, this mentorship can provide that. 

YES! Absolutely the mentorship is ideal if you are only planning to offer antenatal and postnatal care. Setting up a private midwifery business is the same process and requires the same support and instruction regardless of the type of service you plan to offer. The legal, business and clinical set up for your business will be the same even if you aren’t attending births – you might be able to gather less equipment at this point, but all the other elements are the same.

The mentorship will ensure that you’ve set everything up appropriately for your circumstance and allow you to quickly pivot and adapt your service if you want to start attending births. If you set it all up properly from the beginning, changing your service structure is super easy and can almost be done overnight.

Every year at least a 1/3 of the midwives in the mentorship set up their business only intending to offer antenatal and postnatal care… they always still find the mentorship valuable

Yes, in fact, at least half of the mentorship content is about how to be in business and the legal requirements of working as a privately practicing midwife. 

This mentorship reminds midwives that when you are in private practice you are first in business and your business and service is midwifery care. The biggest mistake that private midwives make is neglecting to run their businesses properly because they have focused their time and efforts too heavily on providing their midwifery service.
