Antenatal care

Melanie provides you with all of your pregnancy/antenatal care in her home clinic and in your home. This includes physical checks, extensive education and birth and breastfeeding preparation, among other things. Your antenatal visits are tailored to your needs and you will have plenty time to ask any questions you might have. Antenatal care starts soon after you discover you are pregnant and visits are done approximately every 4 weeks until 30 weeks gestation, every 2 weeks until 36 week gestation and then every week until you give birth. These intervals are just a guide, some women require more and others less.

Home Birth / Birth Care

Most of Melanie's clients choose to give birth at home, however some have chosen to give birth in hospital. Melanie cares for you in your home, or chosen hospital during labour and birth and comes to your birth with all the equipment required (including birth equipment, oxygen, resuscitation equipment and emergency medications). A second midwife is also available at the birth to assist if required.

Postnatal care

Melanie provides you with all of you postnatal care in your home for six weeks after your baby is born. During this time she will check on the health and development of your baby and assist with breastfeeding needs and your recovery from pregnancy and birth. Melanie will visit every day for 4 days after your birth, at week 1, week 2, week 4 and week 6. This visiting schedule is flexible and based on your needs and circumstances.
