Hi, I'm Dr Melanie Jackson
I knew the system was broken since my first year as a student midwife back in 2008. The hospital was policy dominated and research was not used to inform practice.
I'm a rebellious midwife because I'm dedicated to providing woman centred evidence-based maternity care. I am on a mission to help Midwives all over the world to be part of the change needed at the grassroots of maternity care.
It's time to rebel and be a part of the change. Change starts with you and me... let's do it together. I'm deeply present and invested in the assembly and at the ready to be with you.
The assembly is where you get direct access to me and other rebels.

How The Assembly Works
The Assembly is an online community... BUT it's NOT a chat room or forum. If you love the convergence of rebellious midwives live events, the assembly is for you.
We meet 3 times a month in live online rooms in order to learn, support, debrief, and strategise. It's a place of peer to peer learning, and I'm there for every gathering.
You can ask and answer questions, submit and discuss case studies, as well as engage in the VaJournal Club diving into research. The tea room is also open once a month where I hang out just waiting for you to join me, literally for a cup of tea and a chat.
Once you sign up you can access everything in the assembly. not just the live sessions but also the back catalogue of topic based resources, including the huge Netflix style data base of previous case studies, Q&A's and VaJournal discussions.

BE THE CHANGE
Creating change and impact is hard on your own, but you don't have to do it on your own anymore. The assembly is your safe and soft place.
Why The Assembly?
We know that you want to be a brilliant care provider and give evidence-based woman-centred care. In order to do that, you need to learn the research, surround yourself with a like-minded community, and be supported to enact change.
The problem is most maternity care systems promote medicalised fear-based policy-centred care, which makes you feel frustrated and mentally exhausted as you move between supporting the women and fulfilling your obligations to your employer.
We believe evidence-based woman-centred care is possible and worth the effort. We understand how current authoritative knowledge and those who promote it over-power and at times abuse women in the maternity system, which is why we are assembling the rebels. To stand up against this kind of maternity care.
Here is how we do it. Firstly, we attract and educate Midwives who know that something is not right with current maternity care. Then we grow our power by gathering a community of other rebels who can share wisdom, stories and rebellious skills. Finally, we hone our Midwifery and care skills so we become so good they can't ignore us. This results in real systemic change at an individual level.
So, join the assembly of rebellious Midwives. Stop going it alone and join a movement towards change... one Midwife at a time.
